A competitive start was all the No. 8 seed Crane Pirates could ask for — but it didn’t last long.
The No. 1 seed Logan-Rogersville Wildcats showed exactly why they entered the Blue and Gold Tournament at the top of the bracket, pulling away with a decisive second-quarter takeover and cruising to a 68–38 win over No. 8 Crane.
Crane actually came out with the edge you expect from a team playing with nothing to lose. The Pirates matched the Wildcats early, tying the game 7–7 and forcing Logan-Rogersville to earn every possession.
Then the Wildcats settled in — and the game tilted fast.
Behind the steady control of Titus Moore, Logan-Rogersville started winning the paint, dictating tempo, and turning stops into points. Moore “had his way” in the opening quarter, creating looks for himself and others as the Wildcats built a 22–13 lead after one.
The second quarter was where the No. 1 seed slammed the door.
Logan-Rogersville’s pressure intensified, Crane’s offense stalled, and the Wildcats went on a surge that broke the game open. Branham delivered a huge second quarter, sparking a run that pushed the margin into blowout territory. By halftime, Logan-Rogersville had seized total command, leading 44–21.
If Crane needed a perfect third quarter to change the game, Logan-Rogersville made sure it never happened.
The Wildcats kept their foot on the gas and stretched the lead to 66–37 after three, controlling both ends with defensive intensity and quick-strike offense. Crane struggled to take care of the ball for stretches, and the Wildcats consistently made them pay in transition.
Crane did have moments — including a late barrage of threes that showed fight and helped the Pirates generate offense — but turnovers and the size of the deficit made it impossible to flip the momentum.
When the final horn sounded, the scoreboard reflected what the bracket suggested: the top seed played like it, and the No. 8 seed battled but couldn’t withstand the avalanche.
Final Score
No. 1 Logan-Rogersville 68, No. 8 Crane 38
